DIP - Dental Assistant
As a dental assistant, you will work with a professionally qualified dentist during patient checkups, tests, and treatment. You will have to maintain dental records, prepare patients for tests and treatment procedures, and offer support so that both the patient and dentist are comfortable. Dental assisting schools teach students about the administrative and clinical aspects of the dental profession.
As a student, you will have to prepare dental trays, complete with all the instruments a dentist will need. You will also learn sterilization procedures. You will help patients understand how a particular dental surgery is going to be carried out and instruct them on postoperative care. You will also be taught how to apply local anesthesia, take and process X-rays, use dental software programs, examine patients on a preliminary level, remove sutures, and more.
After your training is complete, you will have learned about radiology, anatomy, nutrition, preventive health, and pathology. You can then begin working with a dental professional at a clinic.
With a diploma from Penn Foster Career School you can become a dental assistant and begin a rewarding career in healthcare. With online classes at Penn Foster Career School, you can learn at your own pace and on your own schedule.
